Your Wedding Day: Father of the Bride

August 28, 2017

Last week, I shared some photos of the emotional day for the Mother of the Bride (or Groom). This week, it's the turn of the Father of the Bride. Dads are well known for several things - bad jokes, bad dancing, and being particularly soppy about their lovely daughters. Here are some photos which illustrate how the day might go for the Father of the Bride:

1. Dad's first look at his beautiful daughter in her wedding dress. At The Peterborough Marriott, Lisa's Dad wells up, shows he thinks she looks fantastic, and tops it off with a big hug.

2. The drive to the ceremony - a special moment alone together. Jenny and her Dad arrive arm in arm at The Sharnbrook Hotel

4. And a kiss from the Groom! Gavin shows how much he loves his soon-to-be Father-in-law :-) Your Wedding Day: Father of the BrideYour Wedding Day: Father of the BrideAnd a kiss from the Groom!

5. Walking up the aisle. Perhaps the proudest moment. All eyes are on her, but you are there for her. Christina's Dad gives her hand a reassuring squeeze as they make their way up the aisle at Elstow Abbey, Bedford Your Wedding Day: Father of the BrideYour Wedding Day: Father of the BrideWalking up the aisle

6. Who gives this woman to be married? Dad says "I do", and so hands over his daughter to the Groom. I must say Dulcie's Dad seems a little _too_ pleased to be handing over all responsibilities to Adam! 7. And the Father of the Bride wore pink. Socks, that is. Jules' Dad was game to join in the colour scheme. Mind you, none of them knew the wedding dress would also be the same shade of pink for her wedding at Kelmarsh Hall. 8. Tense relations? Groom and new Father-in-law either get on very badly or very well! Ross assured me it was definitely the latter. Your Wedding Day: Father of the BrideYour Wedding Day: Father of the BrideTense relations?

9. The Father of the Bride usually gives the first speech. To tease or not to tease? Dad jokes can more often get a groan than a laugh, but Robin's Dad has obviously hit the mark in his speech at South Farm, Royston. 10. Dads will be Dads... Vicky's Dad insists on wearing a "special" hat for part of his speech, at the Sharnbrook Hotel Your Wedding Day: Father of the BrideYour Wedding Day: Father of the BrideDads will be Dads

11. ...but we still love them. Katherine gives her Dad a hug, even after he had made her perform her childhood favourite song, "Barbie Girl". Your Wedding Day: Father of the BrideYour Wedding Day: Father of the Bride...but we still love them

12. After the First Dance, it's the Father's Dance. No Dad dancing here, Christine and Victoria both enjoy a gentle dance with their fathers to live music at Corby Masonic Complex.
