How we first met:
Adam and I first met at the school where I worked. I was a class teacher and he was a sports coach who ran clubs at the school a couple of times a week. We got chatting and eventually went on our first date. 6 years later and we're now married and working at a different school together!
When I knew he/she was the one:
We both knew very quickly that we wanted to be together, probably within only a couple of weeks.
The one thing we love most about each other:
Whatever the situation, good or bad, we always manage to make each other laugh!
We booked to go to Bournemouth for a couple of nights in August 2015. I had an inkling that Adam might propose as we'd talked about it months before but what I didn't know was that he'd had the ring in his top drawer for about 6 weeks! On the first evening, we went out for a lovely dinner and then walked back to the hotel. When we got back to the room, Adam went into the bathroom and came out holding a ring. I then immediately started crying hysterically! He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I continued to cry hysterically but eventually managed to say yes. Adam then froze until I prompted him to put the ring on my finger and afterwards we rang all of our family whilst drinking prosecco. The next day, we went to Monkey World which was the perfect way to spend our first day as a newly engaged couple!
Why we chose our wedding ceremony and reception venues:
We chose Kettering Park Hotel for our wedding ceremony and reception as it's in a great location for us and our families. I had also been to a wedding there several years ago and thought the venue looked stunning. I'd heard great reviews about the food too!
What led us to choose Mike Brown Photographic for our photography:
We chose Mike Brown Photographic for our photography because, after extensive research on the internet and at wedding shows, it looked the most reasonably priced and had good reviews.
Some of the most memorable moments in the day:
It's so hard to choose just a few memorable moments as the whole day was incredible but the part that I probably enjoyed the most was walking down the aisle. I loved seeing everyone smiling as I walked towards them and then seeing Adam for the first time. Some other amazing moments were driving to the venue with my dad in a beautiful Beauford Open Tourer, listening to the speeches after the wedding breakfast, seeing the photographer's slideshow as the evening guests arrived and watching all of our family and friends having so much fun on the dance floor!
How we felt about how the photography went:
Mike was fantastic! From the very first meeting, he made us feel comfortable. He helped us to work out what was important to us and what we wanted as an end result. During the meeting at the venue before the big day, Mike talked us through everything and made sure we knew exactly what to expect. On the wedding day, he was very thorough and made sure we had all of the photo opportunities that we had requested. One of the highlights of the day was watching a preview of the slideshow. So many guests commented on what a lovely touch it was and it had quite a few of us in tears!
Since the wedding, we, and all four sets of parents, have purchased a copy of the slideshow (which now has double the number of photos in it) and we couldn't be more thrilled. The quality of the photo album that Mike produced for us is also excellent and we are able to re-live our day every time we look through it!
We would definitely recommend Mike Brown Photographic to other couples.
We went to the Maritim Resort & Spa in Mauritius for our honeymoon. It was an all inclusive, 5 star hotel and we loved every minute! There was so much to do in the resort that we didn't ever venture outside the grounds - sun bathing on the beach or by the pool, a wide range of water sports, spa treatments, visiting & feeding giant tortoises, walking through the tropical gardens, golf, mini golf, tennis, archery, horse riding (although we didn't attempt all of these), etc. The people were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us and the food in the 5 restaurants was amazing!
Our advice for couples starting to plan their wedding:
Be prepared that it can be very stressful at times and there is way more to do than you initially expect but it's so worth it in the end!
